Last week, I returned from my motor road trip to Washington state. What a journey it was!

Most motor bikers have the Route 66 on their bucket list. Although it’s on mine too, so is the Pacific Coastal Highway. It’s one of Americas most beautiful highways.

Unfortunately, the weather was pretty bad when I drove up to the bay area. I hit so much rain that I had to stop at a shopping center to put my clothes and gloves in a dryer at a laundrette. I took a lunch at a diner, mostly just to warm up. After this break the rain hasn’t stopped, but I had to go as I wanted to arrive at my hotel before dark.
One of my bucket list items was to cross the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and I did!

Luckily, the weather was better on the second day, so I could enjoy the nature and the nice curvy roads along the coast.

Finally, I arrived in Port Orchard on Friday afternoon. The last couple of hours I had to drive through pooring rain again but I had some nice music on my helmet so I sung myself through it. And I knew that a warm shower was waiting from me at our friends’ home.

We had a really nice weekend with our dear friends Lucas and Ashley and their cute son Liam, who’s 6 now. Together we went to local breweries and lunch rooms, visited the marina port and had a lot of fun. During the night we watched Disney’s Zootopia. I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. Especially the DMV scene was hilarious. For Americans (and certainly for immigrants like us) it’s a celebration of recognition to see.
Ashley had prepared a buffet dinner in Greek style. So each of us could snack around. It was really delicious.

And after this great weekend Tom got to his plane again while I drove back along the coast. The weather on my way back was fantastic, so that made up for all the rain I got on my trip up to Seattle. The viewpoints are stunning. One moment you look over the ocean from a high cliff and the next moment you’re riding along the beach itself.

When I came down the valley after crossing San Fransisco, a very strong wind caught me off guard. I had to lean badly to regain control.
But finally I made it back home again. Safe and sound.

Here are some photos I took during the trip. I also made a short video with a compilation of the footage I recorded.
