It has been a while since our last post. So it’s time for an update.

Business

Over the last months worked on getting all the necessary permits, tax numbers, etc. Last week, Tom signed the lease agreement for the office space. It’s on the third floor of the East Starpoint Tower. It has 2 separate rooms and an open area for a meeting table. We spent the last days on installing the desks and chairs. So the space starts to look like an actual office. Tom also bought a nice company car, a Kia Sorento. It will soon be wrapped with TeamLogic IT branding. In the coming weeks Tom will hire a technician who is going to take care of all IT related issues. First within the company and later for the clients. The official opening is planned for May, 1st. That would be a nice milestone to celebrate, if it wasn’t for all the sales that needed to start.

House

After our broker Dan helped Tom with getting a good deal for his office, he is now helping us with finding our new home in the area. It’s funny to see how the process of buying real estate works here. First of all, the seller is paying the costs of the buyer’s broker. That’s nice. Second, Dan is visiting all the houses with us. Every home for sale has a separate lock outside the house that can be opened with an app on Dan’s phone. Very easy and you can just walk through the house without being chased after by the seller’s broker.

At this moment, we found 2 houses we love. Both with pros and cons. De first house is at the far east side of Clovis. That area is still fairly new and in development. New homes has been built there over the last years. The house is just 6 years old, so everything is still new. Unfortunately, there’s no swimming pool. However, it does have a jacuzzi.

The second house is in Fresno, near the place we are living now. It’s across the Woodward Park in a quiet area and it has a really nice garden with a beautiful swimming pool. However, it’s an older house where a lot of work still needs to be done. But it gives us the opportunity to change everything to our liking. And we have the time because we still rent our current home for another 2 months.
Also there are a lot of construction workers available here to get the work done. And they can start right away.

Today we’ll visit a couple of other homes and we’ll end this afternoon by revisiting the 2 homes I described above so we can make a final decision. So after the calm, the coming weeks will be a bit of a storm when Tom’s office starts, we’re buying a new home and start our change of status with the USCIS!
